Charlotte to host UNC System Learning and Technology Symposium
The UNC System Learning and Technology Symposium is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, April 13-14, at The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City.
This two-day event is designed to showcase innovative and effective instructional practices occurring at UNC System institutions. Conference sessions will focus on course design; diversity, equity and inclusion; innovation technologies and learning spaces; learning professionals as researchers; open educational resources and pedagogy and open access scholarship; and supporting student engagement and success.
Todd D. Zakrajsek will be the symposium’s keynote speaker. He is an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill and president of the International Teaching Learning Cooperative. Recently, he authored “The New Science of Learning,” and his other works include “Advancing Online Teaching” with Kevin Kelly and “Dynamic Lecturing” with Christine Harrington.
Heather McCullough, director of learning and technology for academic affairs and academic programs for the UNC System and the symposium’s lead organizer, said, “This year’s Learning and Technology Symposium is an opportunity for attendees to hear how their colleagues from across the System are forging the future of higher education. There will be ample opportunity to engage and network, and the proceedings will be published through the J. Murrey Atkins Library open access publication services.”
McCullough previously served as the assistant director for the Center for Teaching and Learning at Charlotte. Jules Keith-Le, faculty development specialist for the center, is a member of the symposium’s program committee.
More information is on the Learning and Technology Symposium website. Registration is still open, and onsite registration will be available.
