Celebrate National Walking Day
The first Wednesday in April is National Walking Day, and the American Heart Association sponsors this day to remind people about the health benefits of taking a walk.
Research shows that each hour of regular exercise can add roughly two hours to a person’s life expectancy. The American Heart Association recommends at least 150 minutes of physical activity per week for adults.
Faculty and staff members are encouraged to celebrate National Walking Day by taking a 30-minute stroll Wednesday, April 5. Take a walk on your lunch break, host a walking meeting or explore a new section of the greenway after work.
Snap a photo while on your walk and email it to my-health@uncc.edu, and you might be featured in an upcoming communication.
