Internship helps expand professional network
One reason Kenan Moore chose UNC Charlotte was because he knew the Belk College of Business would be a good fit. He was seeking opportunities to build his network and grow as an individual. This past summer, the senior marketing major exponentially increased his professional network as an intern at Bank of America.
What was your role at Bank of America? What types of projects did you work on?
I was a summer analyst intern within the Global Transaction Services Division of the bank. I had the opportunity to be a beta tester for a new bank application, and I worked on a liquidity project that helped seek revenue opportunity and got to understand sub-sectors of the health care industry.
What did the internship teach you? What did you learn about yourself?
I learned how to network professionally, how to use Excel on the corporate level and how to challenge myself to assist the team. Throughout my internship, I learned that I am able to balance work with non-work responsibilities, that I can lead a presentation confidently and that I am on the right track to succeed after graduation.
What was your favorite part of the experience?
My favorite part was the amazing week-long orientation training I participated in, which was held in New York City at Times Square.
How will you use what you learned over the summer at UNC Charlotte?
The culture of Bank of America truly exceeded my expectations, and I was proud to intern there. It has prepared me for my senior year with skills that will allow me to excel. I will continue building my network, challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone and being a leader on campus that strives for equity and inclusion.
What organizations are you involved in on campus?
I am a recipient of the Bernard Reeves Scholarship, have studied abroad in Paris, was elected to the Student Government Association and am a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. I also founded the Black Organization Alliance Board to create a community for people like me who could benefit from the many resources offered here and around the city. The idea is to optimize the best college experience for each student of color at UNC Charlotte through service, academic assistance, social engagements and collaboration with other organizations.
