Meet Bryonna Gray
Bryonna Gray is a junior computer science major in the Honors College. Learn why she chose UNC Charlotte, where she hangs out on campus when she isn’t studying and her love for eight ball.
Why did you choose UNC Charlotte?
I chose UNC Charlotte because of the different concentrations within the computer science degree. My career interests are web and mobile app development, so I chose the web and mobile app concentration.
Have you obtained any awards or accolades here during your time?
I received the High Impact Practices Scholarship through the Honors College and one in computer science and STEM Women in Computing. I also received two awards during my summer internship at TIAA, including third place in the People’s Choice Award.
What clubs or activities are you involved in at UNC Charlotte?
I am involved in the University Honors Program, an honors fraternity called Phi Sigma Pi, the Pool and Billiards Club and volleyball intramurals.
What advice do you have for fellow students?
College is a process that takes time to balance. Don’t rush it.
What do you like to do when you aren’t studying?
When I’m not studying, I play a lot of eight ball. Norm’s Lounge is in my area, so I’m there almost every day of the week with my cue stick. Sometimes, I’ll stay until the Popp Martin Student Union closes just to play pool.
Tell us a little bit about your family.
I have two brothers: a twin brother, Marcus, and an older brother, Cedric, who graduated from UNC Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 2016. He works for Wells Fargo as a lead analyst consultant. Marcus is a current UNC Charlotte student majoring in technical electrical engineering.
What’s a fun fact about you that many people may not know?
A fun fact about me is that I do not eat cake. I’ve been scarred since my sophomore year of high school. No more birthday cake for me!
