  • Beth Derrick Crigler has been appointed vice chancellor for advancement at UNC Charlotte, following a national search. She has served in this role in an interim capacity since July 2022.
  • UNC Charlotte’s contractor, New Atlantic Contracting, has notified the University they are experiencing some unexpected delays in the final stages of Phase XVI construction. The University will provide alternative housing to the students assigned to Phase XVI until their residence hall opens.
  • Engage in three weeks of faculty development workshops Aug. 7-25 on high-impact and innovative teaching strategies to support student success and assist with new faculty onboarding this fall.
  • UNC Charlotte’s Community Engagement Orientation is a collaboration between the Division of University Advancement and urbanCORE to help new faculty and senior EHRA staff learn more about the city of Charlotte and how to become engaged in helping address community needs through research and service.
  • The Office of OneIT is moving toward a new service desk ticketing system called TeamDynamix. All members of the UNC Charlotte community are requested to take this survey by Friday, Aug. 11, so OneIT can better serve your IT Service Desk needs.
  • The Office of Diversity and Inclusion announces registration is open for Dig DEEP, a new professional development series that supports faculty members who wish to enhance inclusive excellence in their classrooms. The workshop cohort series, Aug. 8-10, precedes a full launch this fall.
  • Employees who are tobacco users and want to earn their monthly premium credit for 2024 don’t have to wait until Open Enrollment this fall. More information is available on the human resources website.
  • Did you know you can request an international student panel for classroom or training sessions through the Office of International Programs’ Cultural Ambassador Program? Deadline is Monday, Aug. 21.

  • Through a partnership with Coursera, UNC Charlotte is providing access to a limited number of free licenses for students to enroll in one of six Google Career Certificates in high-demand areas of IT and marketing through Sunday, Aug. 20. The certificates are all self-paced and delivered online through the Coursera platform.
