49th ACRE Is Officially open
UNC Charlotte students celebrated a ribbon-cutting for the 49th Acre, a three-acre student outdoor event venue and tailgate park, Saturday, Sept. 16.

- UNC Charlotte has named the building that houses the Cato College of Education Mebane Hall in honor of a transformative endowment of up to $23 million from the Mebane Foundation to support early literacy.
- As the end of the calendar year approaches, individuals who receive wages from UNC Charlotte should review important annual reminders on the financial services website.
- UNC Charlotte is a sponsor of the Second Harvest Sort-A-Rama at the Charlotte Convention Center Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are needed to assemble food boxes for Charlotte area families in need. Questions? Email Vicki Doolittle.
- Charlotte Business Journal names Niner faculty, alumni to Power 100 list as leaders in diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Berny Jacques and Geston Pierre will discuss current social issues during “Political Frenemies Live!,” Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 5:30 p.m. in Atkins Library, Halton Reading Room. The event is sponsored by UNC Charlotte’s Free Expression and Constructive Dialogue Task Force.

- Applications are open to be a Fall Commencement bell ringer. The commencement bell ringer is an honorable tradition that recognizes students who have demonstrated exemplary 49er spirit. Applications close Sunday, Oct. 22, at 11:45 p.m.

- Submit a proposal by Friday, Sept. 29, for the “Upcoming Collaboration in Action: Engaged Scholarship and Student Impact Symposium.”
