Turns out, those scary spiders have a huge impact. Sarah Stellwagen, assistant professor of biological sciences, researches spiders and their silks. She hopes to educate others on the importance of these arachnids.

Before the commercialization of Halloween and highly realistic horror films, there was a time when all of this was more than entertainment, it was a genuine part of everyday life. Carve out time for some Halloween fun! Check out some of the events happening on campus.
- The Campus Activities Board will give out spooky baskets. Come by the Popp Martin Student Union, Room 240, today from 2 to 4 p.m., and grab one!
- Stop by the Office of Undergraduate Research for some Halloween treats. There will be tips, tricks and hints to help you find opportunities for research from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. today in the Barnard Building, Room 109.
- Get tickets for the workshop production of the Caligari Project as part of the Theatre Department’s puppetry class. The production explores “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari,” the landmark example of German Expressionist cinema. The original movie recently passed into public domain and is considered one of the first horror films and one of the first murder mysteries.
