New look for bookstore includes social media, tech hubs

Barnes & Noble at UNC Charlotte, located in the Popp Martin Student Union, recently celebrated renovations aimed at creating a more inviting and friendlier environment that better connects with its customers.

2019 Chancellor’s Reception scheduled

The Chancellor’s Reception, an annual staff recognition event, will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the Popp Martin Student Union Multipurpose Room. Hosted by Chancellor Philip L. Dubois, this event provides employees an opportunity to socialize and network with colleagues. Light refreshments will be served; raffle tickets will be distributed at the door giving attendees the chance to win Niner prizes.

Nine officers within UNC Charlotte’s Police and Public Safety Department have received promotions, following a rigorous, complex process. This is the largest number of promotions announced at the same time in the department’s history.

Survey participants sought for University area thoroughfare study

UNC Charlotte, University City Partners, Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT) and North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) are conducting a University Area Thoroughfares Study in order to improve access and safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and motor vehicles that may enter and exit UNC Charlotte’s main campus. The study is in the initial public involvement phase that includes a survey, in which all University stakeholders (faculty, staff, students and visitors) are encouraged to participate.

Mass CPR trainings scheduled

UNC Charlotte’s Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHS) is sponsoring a mass training of hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Thursday, Oct. 3. Three training sessions will be held in the Cone University Center, Room 210.

Gunderman needs shared leave

Lauren Gunderman from Grants and Contracts Administration has been approved to participate in the Voluntary Shared Leave Program. The Benefits Office will accept donations through Sept. 19.To contribute leave, faculty and staff should refer to the requirements and participant forms in Personnel Information Memorandum (PIM) 29 or in the literature racks outside of the Benefits Office, King Building, Room 207. Community Active Assailant Response Training sessions still available

Community Active Assailant Response Training sessions will continue through October. In addition to daytime classes, evening sessions have been added on Wednesday, Oct. 16, and Thursday, Oct. 24, to better meet the needs of adjunct faculty and evening students. All events are open to faculty, staff and students.

Facilities Management establishes UNC System’s first apprenticeship program

UNC Charlotte’s Facilities Management (FM) Department recently became the first in the UNC System to offer an apprenticeship program for trade careers.
