Risk Management, Safety and Security changes name
The department formerly known as Risk Management, Safety and Security is now Safety and Security.
The name change, which was effective July 1, 2017, was made to more accurately reflect the department’s areas of responsibility in the Division of Business Affairs, as well as to help clarify the addition of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to the newly created Division of Institutional Integrity.

University to conduct NinerAlerts test Oct. 24
The Office of Emergency Management and the Police and Public Safety Department will conduct a full test of the NinerAlert system at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24. All methods of alert notification will be used. This includes text messaging, email, Alertus technology (on-campus screen takeover), LiveSafe and social media.
The test message will read:
NinerAlerts: This is a test of the UNC Charlotte Emergency Alert System. This is only a test.

PPS recognizes quick action of PaTS employees
During the summer, Virginia Fuentes, a SafeRide driver with the Parking and Transportation Services Office (PaTS), was training recent hire Monique Woodard, when she observed an oddity. The Police and Public Safety Department (PPS) vehicle she was following veered suddenly to the left, crossed the oncoming traffic lane and came to rest near a stop sign north of Craver Road.
University participating in bonus leave payouts
The North Carolina General Assembly again has provided a special provision in the current fiscal year’s budget legislation that gives state agencies, including the UNC system, the choice to offer eligible employees the opportunity to cash in a portion of bonus leave previously awarded by the General Assembly.
UNC Charlotte has chosen to participate in this program by allowing eligible employees to cash in up to 20 hours of bonus leave for a one-time payment to be included in their Nov. 30, 2017, paychecks.
