Web communications policy revised
On Sept. 28, University Policy 302, Web Communications was revised to remove outdated provisions related to University social media accounts and to instead refer to the newly approved University Policy 317, Social Media Policy.

Roberts needs shared leave
Linda Roberts, Recycling, needs shared leave donations. The Benefits Office will accept donations through April 15.To contribute leave, faculty and staff should refer to the requirements and participant forms in Personnel Information Memorandum (PIM) 29 or in the literature racks outside of the Benefits Office, King Building, Room 207. PPS’s Gundacker honored by UNC System
Richard Gundacker, a lieutenant in the UNC Charlotte Police and Public Safety Department (PPS), recently received the Office of the Year for Acts of Valor from the UNC System Board of Governors.The Officer of the Year Award for Acts of Valor is given to officers who have, through a conspicuous act or acts, distinguished themselves by bravery, heroism or outstanding courage and have placed the safety and welfare of others above all other considerations.

Student and temporary employee payroll are now biweekly
UNC Charlotte made a big change in when certain employees get paid. As a complement to work by the Student Success Working Group (SSWG), over the last year, Financial Services and Human Resources have worked to transition the student and temporary employee payroll from monthly to biweekly. Now, employees who use Web Time Entry (WTE) will be paid every two weeks instead of only once a month. Laura Williams, UNC Charlotte’s controller, said the change has been a long time coming because of the impact it could have on student success.

University to celebrate ‘Earth Semester’ for 50th Earth Day
Academic Affairs and the Office of Sustainability are collaborating to expand the University’s annual Earth Month celebration to “Earth Semester” in recognition of this year’s 50th Earth Day.Traditionally observed April 22, Earth Day has been celebrated since 1970. In recent years, the University’s Earth Month expanded to increase awareness beyond one day. Last year marked the largest event yet and featured an Earth Day Festival in Belk Plaza.
Employee Engagement Survey underway
UNC Charlotte is participating in the UNC System-wide Employee Engagement Survey, which launched Tuesday, Feb. 4. All permanent employees at the University are encouraged to participate; the deadline to complete the survey is Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020.
