Cone Center exterior stairs to close temporarily

The Cone University Center’s exterior stairway (facing the metered parking lot) next to the Reese Building will be closed Monday, April 1, through Friday, April 12, for restoration work.

Expect noise from sandblasting and pressure washing; barricades and directional signage will be erected.

The ADA sidewalk will remain open.

Remember to use caution when approaching construction areas.

Institute Circle to close temporarily

Inbound and outbound lanes of Institute Circle will be closed Friday, March 29, for construction related to the entrance off N. Tryon Street.

Expect heavy equipment and construction personnel in the area; detour signage will direct traffic to use the J.W. Clay Boulevard entrance.

Remember to exercise caution when approaching construction zones.

Early morning lane closure scheduled along Mary Alexander Road

Between 5:30 and 7 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, the northbound lane of Mary Alexander Road will be closed temporarily to allow construction work related to the Sycamore Hall Renovation project.

A concrete truck will block the northbound lane and sidewalk in front of Sycamore Hall. Flaggers will direct traffic.

Remember to stay alert and exercise caution when approaching construction areas.

Sidewalk, bike lane closures scheduled along Mary Alexander Road

From Monday, March 11, through Friday, April 5, the sidewalk and bike lane on the east side of Mary Alexander Road between Hickory and Sycamore Halls will be closed for construction related to the Sycamore Hall Renovation Project.

A construction fence and barricade will block the sidewalk and bike lane; signage will direct pedestrians to use the crosswalks and bike lane on the west side of Mary Alexander Road.

The bus stop at Hickory Hall will be relocated to the north near the stairs between Cedar and Hickory Halls.

Partial lane closure scheduled near Poplar Lane

A partial lane closure along Cameron Boulevard near Poplar Lane is scheduled from Monday, March 4, through Sunday, March 10, for repair work to curbs, gutters and sidewalk ramps as well as the installation of traffic signals.

While the road will remain open in both directions, flaggers will assist traffic. Expect travel delays due to construction equipment and personnel in the roadway.

Mary Alexander lane closure scheduled

A lane closure along Mary Alexander Road is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, through Friday, March 8, for a project related to the construction of the science building.

Expect one-way traffic controlled by flaggers and delays in travel; buses will have the right of way.

Exercise caution when approaching construction zones.

Dalton Tower stairwell closure extended

Stairwell no. 3 that provides access to the Atkins Library’s Dalton Tower will be  through Wednesday, Feb. 20. This temporary closure is to install a new HVAC unit as part of the Atkins Library Special Collections project.

Signage will direct patrons to use Stairwell no. 4.

Partial closure of Institute Circle scheduled

On Thursday, Feb. 21, there will be a partial closure of Institute Circle to allow for work on a new entrance sign enclosure. Currently, this closure is tentatively scheduled for 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Expect barricades, flaggers and construction vehicles and personnel in this area. Exercise caution when approaching construction zones.

One Dalton Tower stairwell to be closed temporarily

Stairwell no. 3 that provides access to the Atkins Library’s Dalton Tower will be closed Monday, Feb. 11, through Friday, Feb. 15. This temporary closure is to install a new HVAC unit as part of the Atkins Library Special Collections project.

Signage will direct patrons to use Stairwell no. 4.

Temporary power outage scheduled for Academic Complex

On Saturday, Feb. 2, there will be a complete power outage in the Academic Complex to allow for the installation of new electrical panels as part of the complex renovation project.

There will be no access to the buildings (Barnard, Denny, Garinger, Macy, and Winningham).
