Partial closure of Lot 11 scheduled

A portion of the spaces in Parking Lot 11 will be blocked on Wednesday, March 7, for restriping. Expect construction personnel and paint trucks.

City closing part of Mary Alexander Road temporarily

The city of Charlotte will be conducting routine maintenance associate with a storm water project along Mary Alexander Road Tuesday, March 6, through Friday, March 9.

Expect travel delays during this time; one lane of traffic will be in effect between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Construction equipment, personnel and flaggers will be in the area, so exercise caution when approaching this work.

Partial closure of Lot 30 scheduled

A portion of Parking Lot 30 will be closed starting Monday, March 5, to accommodate materials and equipment for the Cone Roof Replacement project.

Pay spaces on the south side of the lot will be closed and converted to handicapped spaces to maintain the same number.

Expect occasional blocked traffic for materials delivery and debris removal; a temporary sidewalk will be designated.

Remember to use caution when approaching construction zones. Work is projected through May 31.

Work scheduled for campus bus pull-offs

Campus bus pull-offs will be repaired and painted between Monday, March 5, and Sunday, March 11. Not all bus pull-offs will be closed at the same time; during any closure, buses will pick up from the street.

Expect some spray from power washing and disruptive noise during painting at pull-offs closed temporarily.

Temporary road closure to Union Deck entrance scheduled

The road to the Level 1 entrance to the Union Deck will be closed from 7 a.m., Monday, March 5, through 6 p.m., Saturday, March 10, to disassemble and load a tower crane being used in the deck expansion.

Expect large construction equipment and personnel in the area. As a reminder, exercise caution when approaching a construction area.

Campus-wide window cleaning scheduled

Between Monday, March 5, and Friday, March 9, interior and exterior window cleaning will occur. Minor and brief interruptions will affect some offices and classrooms in the following buildings:

Temporary shutdown at fuel farm scheduled

The E-10 fuel tank will be shut down temporarily from 8 a.m., Friday, March 2, through 8 a.m., Monday, March 12.

During this period, there will be no access to unleaded gas. A temporary tank is being installed, and Facilities Management will dispense fuel by hand between 9 and 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. weekdays, starting March 5.

RecycleMania event to collect e-waste and medications for disposal

Members of the campus community can properly dispose of unwanted electronics (e-waste) and medications between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Friday, March 2, in Parking Lot 5A.

This collection event is part of the University’s participation in the RecycleMania tournament, which ends March 31. All items collected will be included in final results submitted to the competition.

Construction projects can affect the campus by changing pedestrian, bike and vehicle routes and creating additional activity at or around the University. Members of the campus community should exercise caution when approaching construction areas.

Belk Plaza construction to begin

Beginning Monday, Feb. 12, the perimeter of Belk Plaza will be fenced off as renovations to this area commence. A section of sidewalk will be closed between the plaza and the east side of the Atkins Library; pedestrians will be rerouted around the plaza perimeter. Work to transform Belk Plaza is expected to continue through Tuesday, June 12.
