Traffic interruption expected at Union Deck

Between 6 a.m., Friday, Oct. 13, through 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17, traffic flow to the Union Deck will be altered as workers erect a tower crane as part of the deck expansion.

Expect delays entering/exiting the deck; flaggers will be in the area to allow for movement of heavy equipment and construction personnel.

Reminder, stay alert and use caution in construction zones.

Closure of Cameron/Craver intersection scheduled

A section of Craver Road will be closed from 6 a.m., Monday, Oct. 9, through 6 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, for asphalt repairs.

The road closure, starting at the Cameron Boulevard intersection, will be to the Burson Hall Service Road; access to Parking Lot 15 will be from Mary Alexander Road.

Signage and construction barriers will be present; expect traffic delays and heavy machinery/construction personnel in the area.

Reminder, stay alert and exercise caution when approaching construction zones.

Temporary sidewalk closure scheduled

The walkways between Davis Lake and the Cone Parking Deck 1 will be closed through Thursday, Jan. 18, due to construction.

Pedestrians will be rerouted to the sidewalk along University Road through Parking Lot 7A and in front of Memorial Hall. The sidewalk along Broderick Boulevard between University Road to Alumni Way is an alternative route, too.

Signage and fencing will be installed; remember to exercise caution when approaching construction zones.

Veterans Services Office now ‘green-certified’

UNC Charlotte’s Veterans Services Office is committed to reducing its environmental footprint.

As the first office on campus to attain a Green Office Certification for the 2017-18 academic year, Veterans Services sets an example the Sustainability Office hopes many will follow.

Temporary lane closures scheduled along Mary Alexander Road

On Friday, Sept. 8, there will be intermittent lane closures along Mary Alexander Road between Cameron Boulevard and Cab Lane.

One lane of Mary Alexander Road will be closed at a time with only northbound traffic permitted. Traffic coming onto campus via Mary Alexander Road will be required to turn left or right on Cameron Boulevard.

Expect traffic delays, heavy machinery and construction personnel in the area as workers replace asphalt.

Remember to exercise caution when approaching construction zones.

Power interruption scheduled for Burson Building

Between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, Burson Building will have no electrical power. Workers will be installing new automatic transfer switches for the new emergency generator.

Walkways near Davis Close to close temporarily

Walkways between Davis Lake and Cone Deck 1 will be closed from Monday, Aug. 28, through Thursday, Jan. 18, for work related to the Storm Water BMP Retrofit at Davis Lake.

Pedestrians will be rerouted to the sidewalk along University Road through Lot 7A and in front of Memorial Hall.

Temporary sidewalk, bus lane closure scheduled

Starting at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30, through Friday, Dec. 15, the sidewalk and bus lane on the south side of Cameron Boulevard will be closed temporarily. Construction will reconfigure the sidewalk and relocate the bus stop in front of Wallis Hall to improve pedestrian circulation in anticipation of the opening of the CAT Blue Line UNC Charlotte Main Station.

Pedestrians will be routed to the sidewalk on the north side of Cameron Boulevard, and a pedestrian pathway will be provided between the Wallis Hall main entrance and the crosswalk.

Lane closures scheduled along Cameron Boulevard

Beginning at 7 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 2, through Friday, Aug. 18, there will be lane closures along Cameron Boulevard.

The Poplar Lane side of Cameron will be closed Aug. 2-11; the Witherspoon side of Cameron will be closed Aug. 11-18.

Workers will be reconfiguring the roadway medians and installing new crosswalks to align with the modifications at the intersection of Cameron and Poplar; they also will be adding new turn lanes.

Mary Alexander Road reopens to vehicular traffic, sidewalks remain closed

Mary Alexander Road has reopened to through traffic; however, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services continues to oversee work on a section of that road near campus. Sidewalks also remain closed in this construction area. The city anticipates work being completed by Friday, Aug. 18.

Expect partial lane closures along Mary Alexander while construction continues. Remember to exercise caution when approaching construction areas.
