Burson Building to experience temporary power interruption

Electrical power to the Burson Building will be interrupted from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 8, for work to install new voltage cabling.

Lot 15 to close temporarily

Parking Lot 15, located in front of the Burson Building, will be closed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, April 7, to install new electrical equipment as part of the Burson Renovation Project.

Construction equipment and personnel will be in the lot; a crane will be in use for the installation and removal of equipment.

Exercise caution when approaching construction zones.

CRES to accept advance reservations from departments

Starting at 8 a.m., Monday, April 24, the Conference, Reservations and Event Services (CRES) Office will accept requests from departments for the 2017-18 academic year. Requests must fall between Aug. 15, 2017, and May 14, 2018.

Submissions will be accepted online; follow the link to the Advance Reservation Form on the left side of the page. Requests will be processed in the order in which they are received.

Register for Intermediate, Advanced Excel courses

UNC Charlotte Continuing Education is offering sessions of Intermediate and Advanced Excel in May, exclusively for faculty and staff members. Space is limited, so prospective participants should register early.

Advanced Excel will be offered 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 10; Intermediate Excel is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 24. Both workshops will be at UNC Charlotte Center City, Room 801.

The cost is $175 per person, per course; Continuing Education will process an Interdepartmental Invoice the day after programs have been delivered.

PBS program ‘Last Days of Jesus’ includes James Tabor

James Tabor, professor of religious studies, is one of the presenters for the program “Last Days of Jesus,” which airs on PBS Tuesday, April 4, with rebroadcasts Wednesday and Thursday, April 5-6.

Fashion show seeking participants

Organizers of the “Statement Making Fashion Show” seek students, faculty and staff members to make and/or model a garment or accessory created by utilizing fabrication equipment in either the College of Computing and Informatics Makerspace Lab or the Rowe Arts Fabrication Lab.

Both labs house 3D printers, laser cutters, milling machines and other equipment to fabricate fashion show items.

Statement from UNC president regarding repeal of HB2

UNC President Margaret Spellings has offered the following statement on the repeal of HB 2:
