Volunteers needed for ‘Live United Day’

Jazz studies director featured on album

Will Campbell, professor of saxophone and director of the UNC Charlotte jazz studies program, is a featured performer on the album, “New Songs for the 20th Century.”The album, released in June, is by musician, songwriter and producer Chris Stamey, best known as a founder of the rock group, the dB’s. 

University implements new 49er Mart projects

Financial Services is always looking for ways to improve and simplify processes. During the last two years, a collaborative team, which included representatives from Financial Services, Information Technology Services and Imaging and Workflow among others, has worked to implement several 49er Mart initiatives designed to enhance the user experience and decrease processing time by eliminating paper procedures and adding electronic workflows. 

New trainings to teach individual preparedness, student support

The Office of Emergency Management, the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and the Dean of Students Office are sponsoring new trainings to help faculty and staff learn how to proactively survive an intruder situation and to ease the transition for students on campus following the April 30 incident. 

Temporary sidewalk closure scheduled

The sidewalk between Parking Lot 16A and the Price Center for Counseling and Psychological Services will be inaccessible to pedestrians Thursday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 16, for construction related to the new science building.Barricades will be constructed; expect construction personnel and equipment in the area.

Faculty share expertise in medical journal tech issue

The latest issue of the North Carolina Medical Journal (NCMJ) focuses on how technology and big data can impact health care in North Carolina. The issue was co-edited by Michael Thompson, associate chair of the UNC Charlotte Department of Public Health Sciences, and Michael Dulin, director of the Academy for Population Health Innovation.
