A calling fulfilled: Math professor Kim Harris participates in her final Charlotte Commencement
The emotions that come with commencement — fueled by pride, feelings of accomplishment and anticipation of a new chapter — are not unusual for students and their families. The same holds true for faculty members as they watch their students graduate — or embark on their own new adventures. This spring, this is the case for Kim Harris ’19, an associate professor of mathematics education in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, who will retire from Charlotte at the end of the academic year after 39 years.
Niner Nation Remembers
As part of UNC Charlotte’s Day of Remembrance Friday, April 28, Niner Nation gathered to dedicate a permanent campus memorial to honor Reed Parlier and Riley Howell, who were killed, those who suffered physical injuries and everyone present in Kennedy Building 236 on April 30, 2019.
Dale F. Halton remembered as a trailblazer, friend and loyal 49ers fan
On March 21, UNC Charlotte lost an enthusiastic champion, generous benefactor and supportive friend with the death of Dale F. Halton.
Design, build, fly
The UNC Charlotte student chapter of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics is flying high in more ways than one, competing in and raising money for the Design-Build-Fly competition, sponsored by the AIAA, Raytheon Technologies and Cessna, in May 2024, located in Kansas. They will compete against hundreds of teams across the globe.
University Communications wins second regional Emmy
Four staff members with the UNC Charlotte Office of University Communications recently won an Emmy Award in the Entertainment category at the 37th annual Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee.
