Work to extend the CATS Blue Line onto campus continues, and beginning in the next days and for the next several months, construction will impact the UNC Charlotte campus, particularly at Institute Circle. As with all construction, weather may change the projected schedules for the below phases of the project.

The second of three Belk Plaza forums is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22, in the Cone University Center, Lucas Room. Attendees, comprised of the campus community, alumni and others, can participate in this event that will, in part, influence the conceptual plans for the transformation of Belk Plaza.

Effective at 5 p.m., Monday, Feb. 15, UNC Charlotte will return to normal operations, Operating Status No. 1. Classes that begin at 5 p.m. or later tonight (Feb. 15) will be held.

Students, faculty and staff should use judgment about the appropriate course of action in individual circumstances as weather impacts may vary across the UNC Charlotte service region.  In all cases, allow more time for travel and exercise caution.  

UNC Charlotte is operating on a reduced schedule, Operating Status No. 2, on Monday, Feb. 15. Offices and facilities are open but classes are canceled until 5 p.m. Essential personnel are required to report for work. Students, faculty and staff should use their own best judgment and exercise caution in traveling to and from campus, given their individual circumstances.

The University is closely monitoring Charlotte area weather. As of 9:45 p.m., Feb. 14, there are no changes to the normal operating schedule for Monday, Feb. 15. An update will be provided by 6 a.m. on Monday. 

Based on adverse weather conditions in the Charlotte region, the University has moved to Operational Status 3 (OS3), effective immediately. On Jan. 22, classes are cancelled and University offices are closed.

Based on the likelihood of adverse weather, the University will move to Operational Status 2 at midnight tonight. On Jan. 22, classes will be cancelled. University offices will be open, with limited operation.

UNC Charlotte officials will participate in a town-hall style discussion about diversity and inclusion on campus at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 25, in the Cone University Center, McKnight Hall.

Student Body President Mitch Daratony will moderate this meeting that will include Chancellor Philip L. Dubois, Provost Joan Lorden, Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs Beth Hardin and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Art Jackson.

Public forums to solicit input about the design of the Belk Plaza will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8 and 22, in the Cone University Center Lucas Room. (Note a change in the first forum from previous reports.)
