Register for faculty brown bag talk on mentoring grad students
Faculty members can register to attend a brown bag discussion with Philip Clifford at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 18, in the Center for Graduate Life (Cone University Center, Room 208).
Associate Dean of Research in the College of Applied Health Sciences at University of Illinois at Chicago, Clifford is an outspoken advocate for postdoctoral education at local and national levels and a strong proponent of career planning for Ph.D. scientists. Previously, he was an associate dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and professor of anesthesiology and physiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
In his Sept. 18 brown bag talk, Clifford will discuss creating Individual Development Plans designed to put researchers on a solid career path. He will be on campus as part of the University’s National Postdoc Appreciation Week observance. Earlier that day, Clifford will present “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There” at 10 a.m. in the Bioinformatics Building, Room 105.
