Adam Reitzel, professor of biological sciences and co-director for CIPHER, was named Faculty Fellow of Grant Writing in the UNC Charlotte Graduate and Postdoctoral Writing Center. 

After six years of service as the graduate student ombuds, Bruce Taylor has stepped down from that role. Graduate students, including master’s, doctorate and postdoctoral fellows, will now receive services from the University Ombuds, Scott Deyo, who also serves faculty and staff.

Two current UNC Charlotte students and two alumni have received a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) award.Megan Mitchem ’21, a Ph.D. student in biological sciences, will continue working in the Truman Lab on campus, using her NSF GRFP award to study the link between post-translational modification of the molecular chaperone Hsp70 and cellular metabolism. 

The University’s online master’s in education programs are No.1 in North Carolina, according to U.S. News & World Report.

UNC Charlotte’s Center for Graduate Life and Learning is now the Thomas L. Reynolds Center for Graduate Life and Learning in recognition and honor of Tom Reynolds, associate provost for graduate programs and dean of the Graduate School. The naming took place during a special ceremony at the center in Atkins Library Thursday, Dec.15. 

Jean-Claude Thill, Knight Distinguished Professor of Public Policy in the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences, is the 2022 recipient of the First Citizens Bank Scholars Medal.

Publishing research findings is high stakes for academic researchers, while also being significant for their institutions and others interested in the findings.

The Graduate School currently seeks nominations for the annual competition for the 2021 Harshini V. de Silva Graduate Mentor Award and the First Citizens Bank Scholars Medal.Nomination deadlines are Nov. 6 for the de Silva Award and Nov. 13 for the First Citizens Scholars Medal.
