CCI faculty member recognized by professional organization
The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has named Manuel Pérez-Quiñones as one of its Distinguished Members. This honor recognizes those ACM members with at least 15 years of professional experience and five years of continuous professional membership who have achieved significant accomplishments or have made a significant impact on the computing field.
Pérez-Quiñones, a professor of Software and Information Systems and associate dean of the College of Computing and Informatics, said the award acknowledges that “the work I have done over the last two decades has been noticed. It is rewarding that I was nominated by other computing professionals that are not just my coworkers, but people that have seen what I have done and thought, ‘He’s doing good things.’”
CCI Dean Fatma Mili stated, “Being named an ACM Distinguished Member is a great honor and well deserved. Recently, he has been recognized by the Computing Research Association and the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine.”
