Softball and women’s soccer teams earn C-USA Academic Awards
The Charlotte 49ers softball and women’s soccer teams were awarded the Conference USA Academic Awards for their respective sports for 2018-19. This award is given to the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest cumulative GPA for the academic year.
This marks the fifth-straight season that the 49ers’ softball team has taken home the award. The team had a 3.705 GPA in the fall semester and ended the year with a 3.664 cumulative GPA. Every member of the team earned at least a 3.0 GPA on the year and seven members came away with a perfect 4.0 in the fall semester.
Senior Meredith Harris was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team and Harris, Emma Ocker and Katie Manring were named Conference USA Academic All-Conference.
The women’s soccer program had 25 student-athletes earn a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll with a GPA greater than 3.0 for the fall semester. Nine players finished the fall semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA. In the spring, 24 players made the Athletic Director’s List, with eight finishing with a 4.0 to help the team produce a cumulative GPA of 3.700.
Three players were named Conference USA Academic All-Conference, with Megan Greene and Julia Grainda picking up First Team honors and Jamie Fankhauser earning a Second Team nod. Grainda was also named the Conference USA Scholar Athlete of the Year for women’s soccer.
