Courtney Breault to lead Charlotte 49ers softball

Charlotte 49ers recognized for excellence in management
On the strength of eight league championships across 18 varsity sports, the Charlotte 49ers were recognized as the winner of the Excellence in Management Cup for the 2022-23 Division I FBS athletic season by a research study from the Texas A&M College Sports Lab.
Tomekia Reed named 49ers women’s basketball head coach
Tomekia Reed has been named the ninth women’s basketball head coach for the Charlotte 49ers. Reed, a three-time HBCU National Coach of the Year, comes to Charlotte following a highly successful six-year stint as head coach of the Jackson State Tigers.
UNC Board of Governors approves $60M expansion of Jerry Richardson Stadium

Submit 49ers Athletics Hall of Fame nominations by Feb. 16
Nominations for the 2024 class of the Charlotte 49ers Athletics Hall of Fame are being accepted through Friday, Feb. 16. Members of the public can submit nominees, who will be voted upon by the 49ers Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
To be eligible for the 2024 class, a student-athlete’s final competition must have occurred in or before the 2017-18 season. Active Charlotte 49ers coaches and administrators are not eligible.
Jonathan Nyandjo named semifinalist for top soccer award
Senior forward Jonathan Nyandjo is one of the 15 men’s semifinalists for the 2023 MAC Hermann Trophy as announced by the United Soccer Coaches.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and has been presented annually since 1967 to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. Voting is conducted by NCAA Division I Men’s soccer coaches.
Charlotte’s Dazia Lawrence Named to USA Basketball’s 3×3 World Cup Team
Charlotte 49ers redshirt junior guard Dazia Lawrence has been named to the USA Women’s Basketball team that will compete at the 2023 FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup, Sept. 27 through Oct. 1, in Lublin, Poland.
“We are thrilled that Dazia has been selected to represent USA Basketball,” said 49ers head coach Cara Consuegra. “Last year Dazia worked hard to become one of the best players in our conference, and we firmly believe that she is one of the best players in the country. She now has the opportunity to showcase her abilities against the best athletes in the world.”
