Final ITS planned outage set for Friday
The last of three planned system outages by ITS will occur from 6 p.m. to midnight, Friday, July 14. Due to a data center hardware upgrade, the following systems and applications will be unavailable from both on and off campus. Note: The phone system, including Blue Light phones, will be available.
NCDOT to conduct drone testing, host workshop on campus
The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will host a “Drone Workshop for Commercial and Government Operators” from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursday, July 27, in the Cone University Center. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Lee Engineering’s Debbie Craig dies
Deborah Craig, a student services specialist with the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, passed away June 30.
Craig, originally from New Jersey, joined the University in 2005.
Reminder on planned network outage and computer system upgrade
The second of three planned network outages by ITS will be 4 to 5 a.m., Friday, July 7. During this outage, internet access will not be available anywhere on campus.
Additionally, several systems will not be accessible from off campus (see below).

Learning Communities
Construction scheduled for Cameron Boulevard/Poplar Lane intersection
Drivers should expect occasional delays when traveling Cameron Boulevard or Poplar Lane due to road work scheduled to begin Friday, July 7. Improvements include the addition of turn lanes to enhance traffic flow for the future Facilities Operations and Parking Services Building that will be constructed north of Parking Lot 25.
The construction contractor will provide traffic control during this work, which is expected to continue through Monday, Aug. 14.
SAC parking lot/Halton Lane to close temporarily
Starting at 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, through 6 p.m., Friday, July 7, the Barnhardt Student Activity Center handicapped parking lot and Halton Lane will be closed temporarily.
Workers will be performing maintenance on the cellular tower for signal reliability. Expect heavy equipment in the area. Barricades and signs will be posted, and all pedestrian traffic will be diverted away from the work area.

Walker named University’s chief audit officer
Jennifer Walker recently joined UNC Charlotte’s Internal Audit Department as chief audit officer (CAO), following a national search.
As the University’s CAO, Walker will lead the professionals in the Internal Audit Department as they carry out the department’s mission to enhance and protect UNC Charlotte’s value and reputation by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice and insight.
