Internal auditors wear many ‘hats’
The internal audit profession is interesting and dynamic. A challenge of the profession is to promote the role of internal auditor, while defeating misperceptions associated with this job.
The “old” internal auditor often was seen as a “bean counter” who was concerned with numbers or dollars and cents. Auditors were perceived as always looking back, and they emphasized finding fault.

CLAS departments have new names
The Department of Global, International and Area Studies and the Department of Psychology, housed in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, received approval to become the Department of Global Studies and the Department of Psychological Science, beginning with the spring 2017 semester.

Submit proposals for Chancellor’s Diversity Challenge Fund
The Council on University Community is accepting proposals for the Chancellor’s Diversity Challenge Fund, which supports initiatives that promote the daily value of diversity in the intellectual life of the campus. Faculty, staff or students are eligible to apply for awards of up to $5,000.

New statewide Residency Determination Services for undergraduates to launch
Beginning Feb. 20, the University will no longer determine residency status for undergraduate students.
A centralized, uniform process, known as the Residency Determination Service (RDS), has been created to determine residency for tuition purposes and for the administration of state financial aid.
2017 call for nominations for student awards/honors
The Dean of Students Office is seeking nominations from faculty, staff and students for the Chancellor’s Citations for Leadership and Service and the Bonnie Cone Leadership, Noble Niner, Chuck Lynch and Derrick Griffith Servant Leader awards.
