RSVP for the employee Bahamas Bowl Watch Party

Faculty and staff are invited to a Bahamas Bowl Watch Party on Friday, Dec. 20, on the first floor of the Popp Martin Student Union. Festivies begin at 1:30 p.m. with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m.Hosted by the Popp Martin Student Union, the Barnes & Noble Charlotte Bookstore, Dining Services and Student Affairs, this event will enable employees to cheer on the Charlotte 49ers in their first-ever bowl game.

Annual test of campus lockdown system scheduled

The annual test of the campus lockdown system will occur at approximately 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 16, and will last approximately 10 minutes. The purpose of this test is to assess the functionality of the campus lockdown system. This test helps the Department of Safety and Security train and prepare for emergency situations. What to expect:

University to implement Paid Parental Leave starting Jan. 1

Under Executive Order 95, Providing Paid Parental Leave to Eligible State Employees, the Office of State Human Resources has established a pilot program to allow state agencies and universities to offer Paid Parental Leave (PPL) to promote physical and mental health for employee families, increase worker retention and improve worker productivity and morale.The UNC Board of Governors approved the Paid Parental Leave program in September 2019 and directed institutions to implement no earlier than Jan. 1, 2020, and no later than April 30, 2020.

IRS changes 2020 W-4 withholding form

Due to federal tax law changes that occurred in 2018, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is releasing a new Form W-4, Employee’s Withholding Certificate, for 2020. This new form is vastly different from the current Form W-4 and will be available in Banner-Self Service after Jan. 1.

Temporary lane closure scheduled

The southbound lane of Robert D. Snyder Road will be closed between the PORTAL loading dock and CRI Deck entrance from Dec. 16-23; the closure will be coordinated daily to ensure the road is open for Charlotte Early Engineering College drop off and pick up times.Expect flaggers to direct traffic around the lane closure; remember to exercise caution when approaching construction zones.This is an update to a previous posting.
