Ramey-Moultrie needs shared leave

Nicole Ramey-Moultrie, College of Health and Human Services, needs shared leave donations. The Benefits Office will accept donations through Sept. 3.

To contribute leave, faculty and staff should refer to the requirements and participant forms in Personnel Information Memorandum (PIM) 29 or in the literature racks outside of the Benefits Office, King Building, Room 207. Leadership Development Program applications being accepted

Each year, UNC Charlotte sponsors select employees to attend the five-day Leadership Development Program in Greensboro, North Carolina. Applications for next year’s program will be accepted from Aug. 10 to Sept. 30, 2018.

Full professors receive Jefferson Cup, other faculty recognized at Convocation

At this year’s University Convocation, Provost Joan Lorden recognized faculty members promoted to full professor. She and Faculty President Richard Leeman presented each a Jefferson Cup, originally designed by Thomas Jefferson. The cup is engraved with the UNC Charlotte logo, the faculty member’s name and the year recognized.

Retirement reception for Sherrie High scheduled

Sherrie High, director of University budgets and financial analysis, will be retiring on Friday, Aug. 31, after 34 years of service.

Financial Services is hosting a drop-in reception in High’s honor from 2 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 28, in Cone University Center, Room 210.

Reminder about the Research Integrity Office

The Research Integrity Office is part of a comprehensive research misconduct program at UNC Charlotte that includes policies, education, investigation and enforcement. The office is responsible for investigating allegations of plagiarism, falsification and fabrication of research materials. 

Salas receives Atkins Library Faculty Engagement Award

Consuelo Salas is the 2018 recipient of the J. Murrey Atkins Library Faculty Engagement Award. An assistant professor with the University Writing Program and the Department of English, Salas will be honored during a library social and award ceremony, scheduled for 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, in the Halton Reading Room.

The Atkins Library Faculty Engagement Award is presented to a UNC Charlotte faculty member who has engaged in innovative or exceptional work with library collections, programs and services. It comes with a $2,500 allocation for professional development.  

Veteran FM employee Franjo Pauler has died

Franjo Pauler, 60, a member of the Facilities Management Department, died Wednesday, Aug. 8.

Pauler joined the University in 2001; at the time of his death, he served as the lead technician in Building Environmental Services Woodward Hall zone. Colleagues noted he was a valuable member of BES, and his “kind and thoughtful nature would be missed.”

A native of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pauler moved to Charlotte with his family in 2001. Before coming to the United States, Pauler was employed by Auto Servis Ilijas as a car painter for 20 years.

University employees encouraged to participate in Live United Day

UNC Charlotte employees are encouraged to participate in the first-ever Live United Day: All in for the Kids, a joint effort between United Way’s Hands On Charlotte, the Charlotte Chamber and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

Temporary power outage scheduled for several buildings

A complete power outage for McEniry and the Facilities Operations/Parking Services buildings and McMillan Greenhouse is planned for 6 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 11, to connect a transformer as part of the science building project.
