Associate Professor of Theatre CarlosAlexis Cruz will join the 2020 board class for the Network of Ensemble Theaters; he is one of six new board members from across the United States. The Network of Ensemble Theaters (NET) is a national community of artists and arts organizations committed to the advancement of the ensemble form through advocacy, education and capacity-building. It has hundreds of members from across the country.

Three UNC Charlotte alumni were honored recently with the Bank of America Alumni Network Award. This annual award, now in its third year, is sponsored by Bank of America and the UNC Charlotte Alumni Association to recognize alumni employees who have provided superior service to the bank and shown commitment to the community.Alexandra Hayes ’18 received the Young Professional Achievement Award, Stephen Collie ’02 was presented the Professional Achievement Award, and Ashley Striblin ’06 received the Alumni Service Award. 

Associate Professor of Urban Design Ming-Chun Lee has collaborated with the Levine Museum of the New South to integrate augmented reality (AR) technology and GIS mapping into an exhibition about Charlotte neighborhoods, past and present.

Education students at UNC Charlotte are now using virtual reality (VR) to prepare for real-life classrooms, in a program that looks to reshape the way future teacher candidates learn about how students and teachers interact.

A unique partnership between UNC Charlotte and Charlotte Ballet enables students like Rose Wuertz to earn both a bachelor’s degree in dance and a professional training certificate in dance.

Jon Venable will cross the stage during Fall Commencement to accept a bachelor’s degree in geology. This milestone was 20 years in the making, as he left UNC Charlotte in August 1998 just four credit hours shy of finishing.

UNC Charlotte will wrap up the fall 2019 semester by celebrating graduates during three ceremonies this month. Fall Commencement will be Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14.

UNC Charlotte Chancellor Philip L. Dubois and First Lady Lisa Lewis Dubois were honored recently by Mayor Vi Lyles for their leadership, dedication and service to the city of Charlotte.

The UNC Charlotte School of Social Work and Cardinal Innovations Healthcare have teamed up to launch the Behavioral Healthcare Leadership Academy, a program for students at UNC Charlotte interested in pursuing leadership-based careers in behavioral health care.Through the program, eight undergraduate or graduate scholars will participate in monthly development workshops, webinars and project-based learning opportunities. Participants will receive access to various resources (i.e. books, webinars, additional training opportunities) and a $500 stipend.
