Maja Godlewska and Marek Ranis, faculty members in the Department of Art & Art History, are the 2019 University of Tasmania Cradle Coast Campus Artists in Residence. They will travel to Tasmania in May to begin their project, “Landscape: A Place Remembered and Imagined.”

The UNC Charlotte Percussion Ensemble, joined by the CPCC Dance Theatre and special guests, will present Stravinsky’s ballet, “Les Noces” (“The Wedding”), Monday, April 8.

The impact of transition for a transgender individual extends far beyond the self to their families, friends, colleagues and community. UNC Charlotte’s Aliaga-Buchenau Witness in Residence Initiative will host a community conversation that explores transgender lives in those contexts.

This community conversation will begin at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, at UNC Charlotte Center City. A dessert reception will follow. The event is open without charge, but registration is requested.

Senior nursing student Maggie Johnson was selected recently for a prestigious research award from the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. She will use the award to travel to India after graduation to continue her work with a nonprofit organization supporting health literacy and accessibility for the families of children with disabilities.

The Department of Music will present a special concert featuring the UNC Charlotte Jazz Ensemble with esteemed guest artist Dick Oatts at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 9.

Four UNC Charlotte staff members were designated 2019 Employees of the Year, and 325 employees were recognized for achieving milestone anniversaries for their years of service with the state of North Carolina, during a dessert reception Wednesday, March 27, in the Popp Martin Student Union.

On Wednesday, April 3, the Office of Identity, Equity and Engagement, Women’s and Gender Studies and campus partners aim to redefine intersectional feminism during “{WEMOVE}: Feminisms and Freedom.” This daylong event is being held in the Popp Martin Student Union Multipurpose Room.

UNC Charlotte professor Jeffrey Leak has been named an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow for the 2019-20 academic year. He is one of 39 individuals selected nationwide for this prestigious professional development opportunity.
