Researcher to address ‘the social death of doing life’ in prison

Martha Escobar from California State University, Northridge, will present “The Social Death of ‘Doing Life’: Experiences of Latinx (Im)migrant Lifers in California Prisons” at 2:30 p.m., Monday, March 11, in the Cone University Center, Room 210.

Charlotte Business Journal honors University trustee

Sharon Decker, a member of the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees, recently received the Women in Business Lifetime Achievement Award from the Charlotte Business Journal.

She, along with 25 other female business leaders, including alumna Jane Wu, were recognized as part of the Journal’s 23rd annual Women in Business Achievement Awards event.

Nominations sought for 2019 International Women’s Day

‘Dollars for Scholars’ fundraiser to support 49er Legacy Scholarship

The UNC Charlotte Young Alumni Chapter is partnering with City Barbecue to present “Dollars for Scholars” on Thursday, Feb. 28.

Visit City Barbecue on J.M. Keynes Drive between 10:30 a.m. and 10 p.m., present the Dollars for Scholars flier and 25 percent of the bill will benefit the 49er Legacy Scholarship fund. From 6 to 10 p.m., there will be raffles and special guest appearances.

Green Tie Gala 2019: An Evening Under the Stars

The UNC Charlotte Alumni Association will host its annual Green Tie Gala on Friday, April 5, at The Westin Charlotte. This event raises funds to support student scholarships while offering an evening of fun for all alumni and friends of UNC Charlotte.
