Roadway, construction projects to greet students, returning faculty
The start of the fall 2015 semester is approaching, and University officials advise students and returning faculty to pay close attention to several transportation and construction upgrades, that, until completed, could result in disruptions navigating the UNC Charlotte campus.
Nearly 5,700 students will move into residence halls starting Friday, Aug. 21. Students, faculty and staff members should anticipate more traffic and plan accordingly when entering or exiting campus, especially on Friday. Campus police will direct traffic on Friday and Saturday.

Charlotte Engineering Early College a big draw, waitlist tops 350
While classes don’t start at UNC Charlotte until Aug. 24, there’s already a buzz of activity in the classrooms and hallways at the Charlotte Engineering Early College (CEEC) high school.
Distinct from its peers in one of the state’s largest public school districts, CEEC welcomed its second class of ninth-graders on Aug. 6, along with a handful of sophomore transfers from across Mecklenburg County.

Back-to-back ‘Live Wire’ segments scheduled for Aug. 20
Starting at 2 p.m., Aug. 20, “The Live Wire,” Inside UNC Charlotte’s streaming webcast, will feature two programs. In the first segment, Bret Wood, clinical coordinator in the University’s athletic training program, will explain why one of the most dangerous injuries athletes face also can be one of the most complex to diagnose and manage.

Madsen named University Career Center director
Patrick Madsen is director of the University Career Center; he officially started the position on Monday, Aug. 17.
Madsen joins the University from UNC Greensboro, where he was director of its Career Services Center. He is recognized for successfully transforming UNC Greensboro’s career center into a contemporary one that meets the needs of today’s students, alumni and employers.

170-plus employers expected at 2015 Career and Public Service Expo
Organizers for this year’s Career and Public Service Expo, hosted by the University Career Center, expect more than 170 organizations to attend the event; the companies will offer students thousands of full-time jobs, internships and co-ops in a range of industries.
