Rowe Galleries to host displays by Swindler and Lee
The Department of Art + Art History and Rowe Galleries will host exhibitions by guest artists Jon Swindler and Amanda Lee, with UNC Charlotte students, Wednesday, March 11, through Tuesday, March 31.
Actors from the London Stage to perform ‘Macbeth’
The acclaimed Actors from the London Stage (AFTLS), a self-directed ensemble of five professional British actors, will present William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” in the Anne Belk Theater of the Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts Wednesday through Saturday, March 18-21; shows start at 7:30 p.m.
These performances are part of a national tour for this production with stops at Texas A&M University, Valparaiso University, Principia College, Vassar College and the University of Wyoming. The ensemble will be in residency at UNC Charlotte March 16-21.
UNC Charlotte celebrates 50th year in UNC system
Marking a historic anniversary for the University by ringing the campus bell, Chancellor Philip L. Dubois was joined by key supporters and members of the campus community on Monday, March 2, to celebrate UNC Charlotte’s 50th year as part of the UNC system.
On March 2, 1965, the General Assembly passed a bill designating Charlotte College as the University of North Carolina at Charlotte effective July 1, 1965. According to the Charlotte Collegian, news of the bill’s passage was greeted on campus with “bell ringing, cheers, shouts and tears of happiness.”
UNC Charlotte ethics team takes third place in national contest
A UNC Charlotte team won third place in the recent Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl Competition; the contest designed to consider complex, contemporary ethical issues.
Teams from more than 100 universities and colleges had competed in regional competitions earlier this year, and 32 regional finalist teams came together for the national event in Costa Mesa, Calif. This is the highest a UNC Charlotte team has ever placed.
CGL to host wellness event
Join the Graduate Life Fellows in the Center for Graduate Life from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday, March 26, for a “Stress-reduction and Self-care Open House.” Visitors can enjoy yoga, guided relaxation, stress-reduction skills training and more. The event is open to the public.

UNC Board of Governors adopts resolution honoring UNC Charlotte
The UNC Board of Governors at its meeting Friday, Feb. 27, adopted unanimously a resolution to honor UNC Charlotte on the 50th anniversary of legislation to establish the University as a constituent member of the UNC system.
Chancellor addresses UNC Board of Governors
UNC Chancellor Philip L. Dubois delivers a presentation to the UNC Board of Governors today prior to the board’s tour of campus. The UNC Board of Governors held committee meetings this morning in the Student Union; the full board will convene Friday.
Levine Scholars attend BOG meetings
Recipients of the University’s transformational Levine Scholarship appeared in force at festivities surrounding the UNC Board of Governors meetings being held on campus today and Friday.
Campus to open and classes resume at noon, Thursday, Feb. 26
Effective at noon today (Feb. 26), UNC Charlotte returns to normal operations, Operating Status 1. Classes will be in session and UNC Charlotte offices will be open. Students, faculty and staff should use judgment about the appropriate course of action in individual circumstances as the weather impact varies across the UNC Charlotte service region. In all cases, allow significantly more time for travel and exercise caution.
