Career Center to host virtual networking event
The UNC Charlotte Career Center will host CLT Net from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 29. This virtual event will gather recruiters, students, professionals and community members from around the Charlotte area for an evening of networking, recruiting and learning.
Fisher named to Outland Trophy watch list
Charlotte 49ers redshirt senior center Jaelin Fisher is on the 2020 Outland Trophy preseason watch list, recognizing 85 standout interior linemen representing all 10 Division I FBS conferences and independents. This is the 75th anniversary season for the Outland Trophy, and the watch list presents a diverse field of players to accompany the return of 2019 Outland Trophy winner, offensive tackle Penei Sewell of Oregon.
Professor keynotes theatre education conference
Assistant Professor of Theatre Kaja Dunn delivered the keynote address at the Emergency Conference on Undergraduate Theater Education presented virtually by George Mason University. The recent conference was organized in response to the challenges to teaching and performing that are the result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dunn’s lecture addressed “Teaching in Trauma.”

Submissions sought for Year One Launch initiative
New Student & Family Services (NSFS), within the Division of Student Affairs and in collaboration with Academic Affairs, has developed a new onboarding initiative called Year One Launch.As the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the academic calendar and ways students may be able to engage with campus, Year One Launch offers new, incoming students an opportunity to build community, access resources, develop healthy habits and learn about UNC Charlotte prior to the start of the academic year.
Wide receiver on Biletnikoff Award watch list
Charlotte 49ers junior wide receiver Victor Tucker has been named to the 2020 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List. The Biletnikoff Award is presented annually to the season’s outstanding college football receiver regardless of position (the award defines receiver as any player who catches a pass hence, tight ends, slot receivers and backs, inside receivers, wide receivers, split ends and running backs are eligible) by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation Inc.
Alumna helps organize ‘Be the Change’ concert
Chelsea Karpeh ’18, a clarinetist and customer service representative for Blumenthal Performing Arts, collaborated with violinist Malik Johnson to organize “Be the Change,” a benefit concert to address social justice for African Americans.
