I chose UNC Charlotte because of the campus and how friendly everyone was. I felt wanted when I was touring and have loved every minute of being here.

About the project
The Loy H. Witherspoon Center for Meditation and Reflection will be a stand-alone, nondenominational facility and garden designed to promote interfaith understanding and personal reflection for students, faculty and staff on campus.
Construction is anticipated to begin fall 2024 with a completion date around fall 2025.

Navigating the workplace as a recent graduate
Alumni Council members from the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences, in partnership with the University Career Center, will participate in “Alumni Chat: Navigating the Workplace as a Recent Grad” at 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 22, in the Career Center.
Panelists for the chat are Karen Arrington ’12, therapist/career coach, the Evolving Co.; Kim Baker ’17, marketing project manager, Amwins; entrepreneur Anne Bateman ’08; William Foster ‘17, project manager, Guidepoint; and Mary Ward ’90, a retired nonprofit leader.

I loved the teaching program UNC Charlotte has in place, and I absolutely fell in love with the campus and the amazing club field hockey program.

Spring Commencement bell ringers sought
The Dean of Students Office is accepting applications for 2024 Spring Commencement bell ringers. Faculty and staff should encourage graduating students to apply for this prestigious honor.
CAPS same-day initial appointments model yielding early success
The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services introduced a new service model last semester, the “same-day access model,” and the early results are impressive.
Under the previous model, by the 10th week of the fall 2022 semester, only 63% of students had shown up for their first counseling appointment. For fall 2023, there was a 100% show rate by the 10th week.
Paper towel composting pilot program launches
Did you know that paper towels and compostable paper make up about 20% of the waste collected from UNC Charlotte buildings? This is the largest single item that the campus community can divert from the landfill.
