Participate in Homecoming festivities, parade
The UNC Charlotte Homecoming Committee is extending a special invitation to faculty and staff to participate in its second football Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally to be held on Friday, Oct. 24. Any campus department or group that would like to walk, drive or float in the parade should register online at the Homecoming website by Friday, Sept. 26.
The Homecoming Lights Parade, which is being presented by The Flats, will begin at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 24, on east campus. Student organizations, faculty and staff, alumni and community groups will light up the streets of campus with their floats, banners and spirit attire as the parade travels to the Student Union along Craver Road.
A pep rally in front of Student Union will immediately follow the parade. It will feature special performances from spirit groups, food from local restaurants, music, giveaways and more. An awards ceremony will recognize parade categories for the best float, vehicle, walking unit and community entry.
All parade participants are encouraged to include some elements of lighting to their floats, cars and attire. If groups need assistance with décor, the Homecoming Committee will be offering light kits for purchase.
