‘Straight Up’ sober tailgate scheduled for 49ers football game

An alcohol-free tailgate for the Charlotte 49ers Nov. 8 football game against Coastal Carolina has been scheduled. The “Straighten Up” sober tailgate will be held at the tent in the Black parking lot from 7:30 a.m. until game time. The event is sponsored by the Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC); Center for Wellness and Promotion and Foundations Recovery Network.

The tailgate, which is open to anyone who attends the game, will feature:

  • Free giveaways, including gift cards
  • Light refreshments
  • Niner cornhole and other games

“The goal of the event is to enjoy 49er athletics in a supportive environment,” said Carol Rose, marketing specialist for the Collegiate Recovery Community. The event offers a fun tailgating option for those members of the UNC Charlotte community in recovery or struggling from addictive disorders.

The CRC provides a nurturing, affirming environment in which students who are recovering from addictive disorders can successfully pursue academic, personal and professional goals for the purpose of enhancing their quality of life and becoming productive members of society.
