Charlotte 49ers sign football series with UNC Chapel Hill
The Charlotte 49ers, who are making their debut in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) this fall as a member of Conference USA, have scheduled a home-and-home series with UNC Chapel Hill in 2024 and 2025.
Charlotte will play at UNC Chapel Hill, Sept. 7, 2024, and the Tar Heels will return the trip to Charlotte’s Richardson Stadium, Sept. 6, 2025.
“We are excited that we are able to announce this series, both for our program and our fans,” said 49ers Director of Athletics Judy Rose. “This is another step in the many that we have taken in the development of our program. With our move to the FBS and into Conference USA, we have continued to upgrade our schedule. Today is another important step.”
This is the second home-and-home series that the 49ers have scheduled with an ACC opponent and the second home-and-home scheduled with a “Power Five Conference” member. The 49ers will face Duke on the road in 2020 and at home in 2021.
Charlotte’s first game against an ACC opponent will be in next year’s season opener at Louisville.
