McNeill named to 2015 C-USA all-academic football team

Charlotte 49ers red-shirt junior quarterback Lee McNeill was named to the Conference USA all-academic football team, becoming the first 49ers football player to receive this honor.

McNeill played in nine games and started six as the 49ers quarterback. He completed 100-of-189 passes for a team-high 878 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for a touchdown. He also threw for a season-high 219 yards at Old Dominion and connected with Austin Duke for a TD at FIU. He has made nine career starts at quarterback and has thrown for 1889 yards and eight TDs with a .540 completion pct. over his three-year career. McNeill serves as the 49ers holder and has played in all 34 games over the program’s three years.

McNeill, a business management major, has a 3.965 G.P.A. He has earned a 4.0 G.P.A. in five of six semesters and has received a 2014 and 2015 Conference USA Academic Medal for producing a cumulative GPA over 3.75.

The 12-player Conference USA all-academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better as a starter or key reserve for their teams. The squad is selected by the league’s football media relations directors.
