PPS chief elected vice president of state association
Jeff Baker, chief of the University’s Police and Public Safety Department, was elected vice president of the N.C. Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (NCACLEA).
According to the association, NCACLEA works to promote professional ideals and standards for campus law enforcement in order to better serve the needs of higher education in North Carolina. In addition, the association provides professional development opportunities for its members and represents campus law enforcement agencies.
“Robust leadership in all professional law enforcement organizations has never been more critical,” noted Baker.
Joining UNC Charlotte’s Baker in NCACLEA executive roles are John Dailey, police chief for Duke University, who was elected president; Jim Phillips, chief of police for Guilford Technical Community College, was elected secretary; and Mike Penry, chief of Wake Technical Community College, was elected treasurer. They will serve two-year terms as association officers.
Prior to joining UNC Charlotte in 2009, Baker served 28 years as a member of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. In 2013, he was named Campus Safety Director of the Year by Campus Safety Magazine.
