Engineering professor, four alums on CBJ’s ‘40 under 40’ list

A UNC Charlotte professor and four alumni were recognized as rising local leaders on the Charlotte Business Journal’s annual “40 under 40” list.

Robert Cox, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering in the Lee College of Engineering, was recognized for his work in spearheading a team of engineers to create a successful startup company, Sine Watts.

UNC Charlotte graduate Bryan Delany, an executive vice president of sales and co-founder of Skookum, a full-service software development company, earned a bachelor’s degree in management information systems in 2003. Within the last year, the company debuted on the Inc. 5,000 list at No. 1,234.

Alumnus Michael DiFabion, director of sales and marketing at DiFabion Remodeling, represented the National Association of the Remodeling Industry of Greater Charlotte in 2015 and won the Chapter of Excellence Award for the third consecutive year as the nation’s top chapter. His earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from UNC Charlotte.

In 2008, Rachel Johnson, an architect with Cresa Carolinas, received a Master of Architecture from the University. She was elected to the U.S. Green Building Council Charlotte Branch Leadership Group in 2015 and recently passed the seventh and final exam to become a licensed architect.

Stephanie Stenglein is chief development officer for the Community School of the Arts. She completed a Master of Public Administration degree from UNC Charlotte in 2007. Previously, she was annual campaign and patron information manager for the Charlotte Symphony and director of annual giving at Queens University.

The Charlotte Business Journal’s 23rd class of “40 Under 40” recognizes young professionals who are making major strides in their careers and having a positive impact on their communities.
