Charlotte 49ers Nate Davis selected in NFL Draft, Juwan Foggie signs with Buffalo
Nate Davis’ NFL dreams are coming true. The Charlotte 49ers offensive lineman was taken in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans; he was the 82nd pick overall.
A Stone Bridge High School graduate from Ashburn, Virginia, Davis becomes the second 49er to be selected in the NFL Draft in the past three years. Cleveland Browns starting defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi was a third-round choice (65th pick) in 2017.
A 6-3 offensive lineman, Davis made 37 starts during his 41-game career with the 49ers. He was named Second Team all-Conference USA in 2018 and was an honorable mention all-C-USA selection in 2016 and 2017.
Davis participated in both the 2019 Reese’s Senior Bowl and the 2019 NFL Combine. This past season, he started seven of eight games played and anchored an offensive line that ranked fifth in C-USA in rushing (159.9 yds./gm).
Phil Steele Publications named Davis first team all-Conference USA. Heading into the season, SB Nation tabbed Davis as the 49ers’ Best Offensive Player.
Linebacker Juwan Foggie signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent to become the second 49er to move to the NFL in 2019.
Foggie, a converted wide receiver, started at linebacker for the last two years. A 2018 Second Team all-Conference USA choice, Foggie earned second team all-league honors by Phil Steele Publications. He was a honorable mention all-C-USA linebacker in 2017. He ranked second in the NCAA with a school-record six interceptions in 2018, including an NCAA-best two returned for touchdowns. His six interceptions were the most in the nation by a linebacker. He owns a school-record with three defensive touchdowns in his career (two INT; one fumble recovery).
