Hamlet city manager to join Graduate School
Jonathan Blanton, city manager for Hamlet, North Carolina, will join UNC Charlotte’s Graduate School May 20 as director of finance and business affairs. He will report to Tom Reynolds, associate provost and dean of the Graduate School.
“As we begin developing our strategic plan for 2020-25, we are excited to add Jonathan’s expertise in management process improvement, policy development and financial planning to the team,” Reynolds said.
Blanton completed a Master of Public Administration from UNC Charlotte in 2016; he also earned a Juris Doctor from the Charlotte School of Law.
As Hamlet’s city manager, Blanton oversaw 13 municipal departments and 95 full-time employees. Among his responsibilities was the development and implementation of a $6 million general fund budget and a $2.4 million enterprise fund budget.
