Young Alumni Supply Drive
The UNC Charlotte Alumni Association’s Young Alumni Chapter, in conjunction with the 49er Alumni Campus Employees Network, will hold a Veterans Day supply drive from Friday, Nov. 1, through Friday, Nov. 15. Donations will go to active duty military service members.
Suggested items include books/magazines, wet wipes, sun screen, deodorant, AA and AAA batteries, travel-size toiletries and nonperishable snacks. Collection bins will be located on campus at the Harris Alumni Center at Johnson Glen, Foundation Building, Popp Martin Student Union, Athletics Office, Police and Public Safety Building, Parking Services, Cato College of Education, College of Health and Human Services and Kennedy and Reese buildings, as well as at UNC Charlotte Center City.
The Young Alumni Chapter also will host a Veterans Drive Event from 12:30 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17, at NoDa Brewing Company. The event will feature multiple vendors, a corn hole tournament, an exciting raffle and a watch party for the Charlotte Panthers vs Atlanta Falcons football game. Attendees are encouraged to support the supply drive during the event.
Grand Opening of Veterans Park
RSVP for the grand opening ceremony for UNC Charlotte’s new Veterans Park. The ceremony will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, at the park, adjacent to Memorial Hall.
The park was conceived by Christopher Orr ’18 as a place on campus to recognize UNC Charlotte’s historical connections to veteran students and to honor all past, present and future veterans who will attend or work at the University.
