Charlotte’s Young named C-USA Freshman of the Year
Charlotte 49ers guard Jahmir Young was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year; voting on the award was by conference head coaches and media members in each conference city. He also was named third-team All-Conference USA and to the Conference USA All-Freshman team.
Young was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week a league-best eight times. He is the fourth player in league history to earn at least eight Conference USA Freshman/Rookie of the Week honors since the award began in the 2008-09 season.
He is second in scoring for the 49ers, averaging 12.5 points per game and leads Charlotte in C-USA games, averaging 13.7 points per game. He has recorded 21 double-figure scoring games. He leads the 49ers in rebounding, averaging 5.2 boards per game and has grabbed at least five rebounds in 17 games this season. Young ranks sixth in Conference USA in steals, averaging 1.6 per game.
