Below is a list of faculty awards for which the University invites nominations; due dates are listed for the 2017-18 academic year.

University to observe National Postdoc Appreciation Week

Postdoctoral fellows contribute greatly to the research enterprise of the University. In observance of National Postdoc Appreciation Week, Sept. 18-22, the University has organized various events.

On Monday, Sept. 18, Philip Clifford, nationally recognized for championing career and professional development for Ph.D. scientists, will present “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There” at 10 a.m. in the Bioinformatics Building, Room 105.

Register for faculty brown bag talk on mentoring grad students

Faculty members can register to attend a brown bag discussion with Philip Clifford at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 18, in the Center for Graduate Life (Cone University Center, Room 208).

Dear Students and Colleagues,
We lost a member of our University community this weekend. Jeannine Skinner, assistant professor of gerontology/psychology in the Department of Psychological Science, passed away at age 35.

Code of Student Academic Integrity policy revised

University Policy 407, Code of Student Academic Integrity, was revised effective Aug. 15, to improve the proper and efficient functioning of the academic integrity process. These changes include adding timelines and deadlines for adjudicating cases, increasing the number of members of the Academic Integrity Board, removing the requirement that AIB members have “professorial rank” and adding suggested educational penalties.

Urban Institute’s Newsom elected chair of history museum board

Mary Newsom, director of urban policy initiatives at the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute, has been elected chair of the board of trustees at the Charlotte Museum of History.  Newsom had been vice chair of the board, which she joined in 2013.

Niner Research Reception scheduled

The Office of Research and Economic Development will hold a Niner Research Reception from noon to 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 11, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Salons.

This event will honor faculty grant recipients and others engaged in research on campus; a brief program will start at 12:15 p.m.

UNC Charlotte researchers, community organizations advancing ‘The Charlotte Girl’

“The Story of the Charlotte Girl” is one of opportunities and resources, and it is the focus of a nearly yearlong initiative of UNC Charlotte’s Women + Girls Research Alliance.

Spirion software added to computers

Spirion Sensitive Data Finder is now available on faculty/staff computers. This software allows employees to search their computers for Social Security numbers (SSN) and credit card information.
