Center for Real Estate to cosponsor symposium
The UNC Charlotte Center for Real Estate and Urban Land Institute Charlotte will hold “Navigating Private Equity Capital Markets” at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, at UNC Charlotte Center City.
This afternoon symposium will feature an inside view of how today’s capital providers assess real estate investment opportunities and what they see for the future.
University cosponsoring fixed income conference
UNC Charlotte and the University of South Carolina will hold a conference on fixed income securities on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, at UNC Charlotte Center City.
The 2015 Fixed Income Conference will feature experts presenting the latest information and research on fixed income securities.

Belk College faculty member receives Chamber’s young professional award
Victor Chen, assistant professor of international management in the Belk College of Business, has received the 2015 Young Professional (YP) Educator Award from the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals (YPs).
The Charlotte Chamber YPs honored 24 finalists who are between 21 and 39 years of age in six categories. The awards were presented earlier this month at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Connaughton talks interest rates, value of the dollar
Economist John Connaughton discussed interest rates, the Federal Reserve and the value of the dollar following his March quarterly economic forecast, sponsored by Babson Capital Management.
UNC Charlotte Executive Education program to focus on innovation and change for leaders
UNC Charlotte Executive Education will present “Designing the Future: Driving Innovation and Change” Thursday and Friday, March 26-27; it is one of several spring programs now available for registration.
Designed for executives and senior managers, the program focuses on preparing companies to constantly create new wealth, with constant innovation and continuous change and with a resulting blueprint for action for participants to use in their companies and organizations.
Connaughton to present quarterly economic forecast
Economist John Connaughton will give his quarterly forecast for the North Carolina economy at a luncheon and press conference Wednesday, March 11, at UNC Charlotte Center City. His presentation will begin at noon in the auditorium. A Belk College alumni coffee will be held at 11 a.m., and lunch will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m.
MetLife Foundation contribution to start Women in Business Leadership program
MetLife Foundation and UNC Charlotte announced a partnership to establish a “Women in Business” leadership program in the University’s Belk College of Business; the foundation contributed $100,000 to launch the initiative.
Jan. 8 ‘Live Wire’ canceled, rebroadcast to air
The planned “Live Wire” for Jan. 8 has been canceled; there will be a rebroadcast of a program featuring Ted Amato, professor of economics, and student Brittany Nunn discussing the imapact of the Business Honors Program and Justin Webb and student Luzina Holden discussing business innovation and entrepreneurship at UNC Charlotte.
