Temporary sidewalk closure scheduled

The walkways between Davis Lake and the Cone Parking Deck 1 will be closed through Thursday, Jan. 18, due to construction.

Pedestrians will be rerouted to the sidewalk along University Road through Parking Lot 7A and in front of Memorial Hall. The sidewalk along Broderick Boulevard between University Road to Alumni Way is an alternative route, too.

Signage and fencing will be installed; remember to exercise caution when approaching construction zones.

Murray needs shared leave

Elizabeth Murray with the Department of Materials Management needs shared leave donations.

To contribute leave, faculty and staff should refer to the requirements and participant forms in Personnel Information Memorandum (PIM) 29 or in the literature racks outside of the Benefits Office, King Building, Room 207. Annual Chancellor’s Reception scheduled

This year’s Chancellor’s Reception will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17, in the Popp Martin Student Union Multipurpose Room.

Hosted by Chancellor Philip L. Dubois, this annual staff recognition event provides an opportunity to socialize and network with colleagues. Light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.

Veterans Services Office now ‘green-certified’

UNC Charlotte’s Veterans Services Office is committed to reducing its environmental footprint.

As the first office on campus to attain a Green Office Certification for the 2017-18 academic year, Veterans Services sets an example the Sustainability Office hopes many will follow.

Temporary sidewalk closure between Lots 11A, 16 scheduled

Beginning at 7 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23, through 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30, the sidewalk between Lot 11A and Lot 16 will be closed temporarily to replace the existing asphalt sidewalk with brick as part of the Student Counseling Center construction project.

Expect barricades, construction equipment and personnel in the area; a detour will route pedestrians along Poplar Terrace Lane.

Lane closures scheduled along Cameron Boulevard

Beginning at 7 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 2, through Friday, Aug. 18, there will be lane closures along Cameron Boulevard.

The Poplar Lane side of Cameron will be closed Aug. 2-11; the Witherspoon side of Cameron will be closed Aug. 11-18.

Workers will be reconfiguring the roadway medians and installing new crosswalks to align with the modifications at the intersection of Cameron and Poplar; they also will be adding new turn lanes.

Charlotte Wheels bike program available

Charlotte Wheels is a new campus bike-share program using Gotcha Bikes. Ten rack corrals have been installed, and 50 Gotcha Bikes are available for rent.

The bikes are belt-driven and have Shirmano three-speed internal gears; they also have baskets with bungee cords to secure books and packages. Safety lights illuminate the front and rear.

Parking permits for the 2017-18 academic year are available.
