Community’s desire to support prompts crowdfunding initiative
Niner Nation Unites, the University’s official crowdfunding site, was established in response to the overwhelming desire to support the victims and the UNC Charlotte community during this time of tragedy.
Chancellor stresses spirit of unity
Words cannot adequately express the heartbreak we feel over yesterday’s tragic events, nor can they describe the selfless, overwhelming support you have provided. Even in the midst of UNC Charlotte’s darkest day, our greatest strength–our ability to unify with one heart and a common purpose–shines clearly through.
Statement from Chancellor Philip L. Dubois
This is the saddest day in UNC Charlotte’s history. Earlier this evening, the unthinkable happened on our campus. At approximately 5:40 PM, an individual opened fire in a UNC Charlotte classroom, cutting short the lives of two members of our community and seriously injuring four others.

Chancellor among Most Admired CEOs in Charlotte
Chancellor Philip L. Dubois recently accepted an award from the Charlotte Business Journal as one of the area’s Most Admired CEOs. He was one of two recipients in the education category. In total, the business publication recognized 35 local leaders in 18 industry categories, including trustee Susan DeVore ’81 of Premier Inc.
Town hall to explore future of campus IT
A town hall meeting is scheduled for 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, in the Popp Martin Student Union Multipurpose Room, to learn about the recommended future “One IT” organization could look like.
Four staff members honored as employees of the year
Four UNC Charlotte staff members were designated 2019 Employees of the Year, and 325 employees were recognized for achieving milestone anniversaries for their years of service with the state of North Carolina, during a dessert reception Wednesday, March 27, in the Popp Martin Student Union.
Lisa Lewis Dubois inducted into Women’s History Hall of Fame
Lisa Lewis Dubois is among the newest inductees of the Women’s History Hall of Fame. The honor recognizes women in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region who have made significant contributions civically, socially and politically.
