Architecture students bring improvements to Salisbury building

A group of UNC Charlotte architecture students led by Assistant Professor of Architecture Marc Manack recently installed “Mending Fences,” a design/build project for the city of Salisbury.

Fall Dance Concert to explore migrant experience in guest choreographer’s work

Students in the Department of Dance will perform the 2018 Fall Dance Concert Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 15-18, in the Belk Theater in Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts. The four works on the program were choreographed by UNC Charlotte dance faculty and guest artists, including choreographer Claudia Lavista of Delfos Danza Contemporánea.

University’s Veterans Day observance to feature concert, military appreciation game and more

The UNC Charlotte Wind Ensemble, joined by the University Chorale and the Pride of Niner Nation Marching Band, will present “For Heroes Proved: A Veterans Day Concert” at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 11, at Ovens Auditorium.

Department of Theatre to present Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’

The Department of Theatre will present Shakespeare’s comedy, “Twelfth Night,” Thursday, Oct. 25, through Sunday, Nov. 4, in the Black Box Theater in Robinson Hall. The production is directed by Robinson Distinguished Professor of Shakespeare Andrew Hartley.

Dance education graduate wins 2018 N.C. Student Teacher of the Year

The North Carolina Association for Colleges and Teacher Educators (NCACTE) has named recent UNC Charlotte dance alumna Makayla Church the 2018 Student Teacher of the Year. Church received the award at the 36th annual North Carolina Teacher Education Forum, “Celebrating Our Professional Identity: Shared Knowledge and Advocacy” held in Raleigh.

‘SEE-ING’ symposium and exhibition to explore transformed notions of the visible

The School of Architecture will present a symposium and exhibition, “SEE-ING: The Environmental Consciousness Project,” from 1 to 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 15. This multidimensional program, curated by Assistant Professor of Architecture Catty Dan Zhang, includes distinguished guest speakers, a dance performance and an immersive installation/exhibition that features work by a dozen artists and designers from across the globe.

Faculty Dance Concert to showcase multiple choreographic styles

The Department of Dance will present a Faculty Dance Concert on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28-29, in the Anne R. Belk Theater in Robinson Hall. The program features five works by faculty choreographers and includes faculty and guest performers.
