Shawn Long receives alumni award

College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Senior Associate Dean Shawn Long has received the Lyman T. Johnson Torch of Excellence Award from the University of Kentucky Lyman T. Johnson African American alumni group, honoring his impact on other people’s lives.

Animals on Campus policy revised

On Tuesday, Oct. 30, University Policy 704, Animals on Campus, was revised to codify current practices with regard to student requests for emotional support animals (ESAs) in on-campus housing. 

Weaver needs shared leave

Katherine Weaver, EPIC, needs shared leave donations. The Benefits Office will accept donations through Nov. 26.

To contribute leave, faculty and staff should refer to the requirements and participant forms in Personnel Information Memorandum (PIM) 29 or in the literature racks outside of the Benefits Office, King Building, Room 207. Paving work scheduled for Lot 16A

Between Friday, Nov. 2, and Sunday, Nov. 4, workers will complete the final paving and striping of Parking Lot 16A. On Friday, parking spaces closest to the Auxiliary Services Building will be closed; the entire lot will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Registration underway for Chancellor’s Fishing Derby

The third Chancellor’s Fishing Derby will be Saturday, Nov. 10, at Hechenbleikner Lake.

This family-friendly event is open to faculty and staff members and their guests. Two 75-minute sessions will be held with check-in starting at 8 a.m.

Flu shot clinic scheduled

The Human Resources Department is coordinating a flu shot clinic. Immunizations will be administered from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the Cone University Center, Lucas Room.

Employees and family members, age 4 and older, who are covered by the State Health Plan, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) or other eligible plans can participate in these free clinics.

New office names part of Student Affairs realignment

The Multicultural Resource Center, Religious and Spiritual Life, Latinx Student Services and Student Advising for Freshman Excellence (S.A.F.E.) have merged to become the Office of Identity, Equity and Engagement. The name reflects the office’s goal to create opportunities for education, development and engagement for students, while keeping in mind their various intersecting identities.

Sign up for electronic Form W-2

UNC Charlotte employees have the option to receive their Form W-2 electronically for the 2018 tax year. This includes faculty, staff, temporary and student employees. Sign up is required by Monday, Dec. 31.

Note: Employees who previously elected to receive their Form W-2 electronically do not need to take action again this year.

Once available, the form can be accessed by logging into the secure My UNCC portal, where it can be viewed or downloaded and printed.
