Construction projects can affect the campus by changing pedestrian, bike and vehicle routes and creating additional activity at or around the University. Members of the campus community should exercise caution when approaching construction areas.

Dalmeida needs shared leave

Genevieve Dalmeida, Building Environmental Services, needs shared leave donations. The Benefits Office will accept donations through June 29.

To contribute leave, faculty and staff should refer to the requirements and participant forms in Personnel Information Memorandum (PIM) 29 or in the literature racks outside of the Benefits Office, King Building, Room 207. New policy covers drone usage on campus

On Monday, June 11, Chancellor Philip L. Dubois approved the new University Policy 717, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).

The use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), more commonly known as drones, on campus has increased significantly during the last few years. Use of such equipment presents great opportunities for the University but presents some risks that must be addressed as well.

Temporary closure of Lot 15 scheduled

Lot 15 faculty and staff parking area will be closed Monday, June 18, through Friday, June 22, for scheduled maintenance.

Expect construction equipment/personnel and barricades. Exercise caution when approaching construction zones.

Finalists for facilities space management director to deliver campus presentations

The three finalists for the position of director of space management will deliver a campus presentation as part of the interview process.

Presentations will be held at 11 a.m., June 18, June 26 and July 2, in the College of Health and Human Services, Room 370.

Construction to close part of Lot 6

Parking Lot 6 will be closed partially to install new LED lighting upgrades. This project is expected to be completed by Friday, June 29.

Expect heavy construction equipment with workers in the area. Traffic will be blocked on the south side of the lot. All pedestrian traffic will be diverted.

Barricades and signage will be erected; remember to exercise caution when approaching construction areas.

 

Partial closure of parking lot, sidewalk scheduled

The Barnhardt Student Activity Center Handicapped Lot and the walkway serving the West Parking Deck will be partially closed through Friday, July 27, for work related to the cell tower.

All pedestrian traffic will be restricted along the work area; several parking spaces in the west end of the lot will be blocked.

Expect temporary fencing and construction personnel in the area. Signage will be posted. As always, exercise caution when approaching construction areas.

Betterson needs shared leave

Tangia Betterson, Office of the Provost, needs shared leave donations. The Benefits Office will accept donations through June 25.

Possible telephone scam targeting health plan subscribers

The North Carolina State Health Plan (SHP) has been notified of a possible telephone scam involving plan subscribers. A few state employees have reported receiving telephone calls on their cell or home numbers from a person who states they are calling to verify the subscriber’s medical records with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC).
